What is an options sweep?
One buyer in a hurry, taking contracts from every exchange at once instead of waiting for a better price. Paying up for speed usually means somebody thinks the clock matters.

A sweep, in full.
Options trade on more than a dozen exchanges at once. A patient buyer rests an order and waits for sellers to come to them. A buyer in a hurry splits the order across every exchange simultaneously and takes whatever is offered, at whatever price is offered.
That second behaviour is a sweep, and it is expensive on purpose. The buyer has accepted a worse average price in exchange for being filled now and in full.
Urgency is the information. Nobody pays up to be immediate about a view they expect to play out over the next six months.
It separates somebody quietly building a position from somebody who thinks something is about to happen.
Words that go with it.
See it happening.
