SLRC earnings analysis

What we found in SLRC's 10-Q: the parts that mattered, the offsets in the same document, and what the company said about what comes next.

Our reading of the filing · Free to read, no account needed

SLR Investment’s Q2 results weakened year over year: total investment income fell 9.4% to $48.8 million, net investment income per share declined to $0.33 from $0.40, and GAAP EPS fell to $0.15 from $0.44 after a $9.5 million net realized and unrealized loss. Liquidity improved materially, with $422.5 million of cash and cash equivalents and $465.4 million of unused revolver capacity, but NAV per share declined to $18.00 and non-accrual issuers increased to two. Management cited a smaller income-producing portfolio as the principal cause of lower revenue, while valuation pressure in several investments was the key driver of the quarterly loss.

What stood out

The parts that mattered.

Pulled out of the filing itself, with the figures the company reported.

Investment income declined 9% year over year
Q2 total investment income was $48.8 million, down $5.1 million (9.4%) from $53.9 million a year earlier, primarily because management cited a smaller income-producing portfolio. It was broadly stable sequentially versus $49 million in Q1 2026.
Net investment income per share fell 18%
Net investment income was $17.8 million, or $0.33 per average share, versus $21.6 million, or $0.40 per share, in Q2 2025. The implied net-investment-income margin was 36.4%, versus 40.1% a year ago.
Equipment Finance delivered strong growth
SLR Equipment Finance generated Q2 net income of $4.3 million on $11.2 million of gross income, versus $2.6 million on $8.8 million a year earlier. Its net investment in leases and loans increased to $324.9 million from $299.8 million at year-end 2025.
Operating cash flow turned strongly positive
Operating cash flow was positive $91.8 million in the first six months of 2026, versus an outflow of $136.7 million a year earlier, aided by $347.2 million of investment disposition proceeds and a $44.2 million decrease in receivables for investments sold. Traditional capex and free cash flow are not disclosed for this BDC.
Liquidity increased despite lower income
Cash and cash equivalents rose $58.2 million in the first half to $422.5 million, including $398.1 million of Treasury-bill cash equivalents. Available unused capacity under revolving facilities was $465.4 million at June 30, 2026, subject to borrowing-base limits.
Permanent incentive-fee reduction
The adviser’s performance-based incentive fee rate was permanently reduced to 17.5% from 20.0%, effective beginning in Q2 2026. Q2 performance-based incentive fees were $3.8 million, down from $5.4 million a year earlier.
What to watch

And the other side of it.

The offsets in the same document — the things a summary that only listed the good news would have left out.

Valuation losses sharply reduced GAAP EPS
GAAP earnings per share were $0.15, down from $0.44 in Q2 2025, as a $9.5 million net realized and unrealized investment loss replaced a $2.6 million gain. Management attributed unrealized depreciation primarily to OmniGuide, iCIMS, RQM+, and SLR-AMI Topco Blocker.
NAV erosion and increased non-accruals
NAV per share fell to $18.00 at June 30, 2026 from $18.26 at December 31, 2025, while net assets declined $13.9 million during the first half. The investment portfolio had two issuers on non-accrual status, versus one a year earlier.
Leverage and rate sensitivity remain material
Debt carrying value increased to $1.154 billion from $1.146 billion at year-end 2025, and asset coverage declined to 184.7% from 186.3%. The company reported that a 1% decline in SOFR would reduce annual net investment income by $0.03 per average share.
Specialty-finance subsidiaries saw portfolio declines
SLR Credit’s funded loans fell to $328.7 million from $404.1 million at year-end 2025, while its six-month net income declined to $6.3 million from $8.7 million. SLR Healthcare’s net investment in loans also declined to $123.7 million from $157.0 million.
No formal risk-factor update; commitments remain
No material risk-factor changes were reported for the period ended June 30, 2026 versus the February 24, 2026 annual report. Separately, unfunded commitments remained substantial at $381.3 million, although management stated it had sufficient cash and/or liquid securities to fund them.
