Lucid delivered strong top-line growth in Q2, with revenue rising 56% year over year to $405.3 million, but GAAP diluted EPS of negative $3.30 remained below the supplied consensus estimate of negative $2.41. Profitability remained severely negative: gross margin was negative 105.3% and the operating margin was negative 267.0%, although the latter improved markedly from Q1. The central investor issue remains liquidity and execution: six-month operating cash use reached $2.408 billion, inventory-related write-downs were $299.7 million in Q2, and management is relying on cost actions, credit facilities, and external financing while targeting a Midsize ramp in the second half of 2027.
The parts that mattered.
Pulled out of the filing itself, with the figures the company reported.
- Revenue accelerated on Gravity mix
- Q2 revenue rose $145.9 million, or 56%, year over year to $405.3 million, driven by higher vehicle deliveries and a richer Lucid Gravity mix. Revenue also increased 44% from Q1 2026's $282 million.
- Operating loss ratio improved sequentially
- Operating margin improved to negative 267.0% from negative 350.3% in Q1 2026 and negative 309.5% in Q2 2025. The improvement reflects operating leverage on $405.3 million of revenue, though losses remain substantial.
- Restructuring targets $158M annual savings
- The June workforce plan is expected to generate approximately $158 million of annualized cost savings, against approximately $34 million of total expected restructuring charges; $33.7 million was recorded in Q2.
- Financing capacity supports near-term liquidity
- Liquidity included $775.5 million of cash, cash equivalents and investments at June 30, plus $1.98 billion of unused DDTL availability. Lucid subsequently borrowed another $800.0 million under that facility in July.
- Management states 12-month liquidity runway
- Management expects current liquidity and projected operating cash flows to fund operations for at least the next 12 months, while preserving Midsize and autonomous-commercialization programs.
And the other side of it.
The offsets in the same document — the things a summary that only listed the good news would have left out.
- Inventory charges keep gross margin deeply negative
- Gross margin was negative 105.3%, versus negative 105.0% a year earlier and negative 110.4% in Q1. Inventory and purchase-commitment write-downs rose to $299.7 million in Q2 from $184.7 million a year earlier.
- Cash burn and working-capital outflow intensified
- Six-month operating cash use increased $1.149 billion year over year to $2.408 billion, primarily due to higher inventory purchases during the Gravity ramp. Management has reduced production volume to align with anticipated demand.
- Leverage and interest expense increased
- Debt and funding costs are rising: DDTL borrowings were $500.0 million at June 30 versus nil at year-end, GIB borrowings rose to $503.1 million from $468.0 million, and Q2 interest expense increased 101% to $47.8 million.
- Policy changes threaten EV demand and credits
- A material risk-factor emphasis is reduced EV incentives and regulatory-credit uncertainty: six-month regulatory-credit sales fell $24.8 million year over year, while the OBBBA eliminated or limited certain EV tax credits and proposed rules could eliminate CAFE EV-credit trading.
- Supplier disruptions and purchase commitments
- The filing highlights demand and execution risk after Gravity deliveries were disrupted for 29 days in Q1 2026 by a supplier quality issue. Lucid also holds approximately $2.55 billion of non-cancellable long-term commitments, principally inventory components.
- Midsize timing requires continued capital spending
- Midsize remains a long-dated execution dependency: Lucid expects production to ramp only in the second half of 2027, while it anticipates approximately $1.0 billion in 2026 capital expenditures.
