What we found in CBNA's 10-Q: the parts that mattered, the offsets in the same document, and what the company said about what comes next.

Our reading of the filing · Free to read, no account needed

Chain Bridge delivered strong Q2 2026 earnings momentum, with diluted EPS of $1.45 versus $0.70 a year earlier, net income up 107.5% to $9.512 million, and net interest income up 44.6% to $17.052 million. Growth was supported by a 27.2% increase in deposits and a sharp increase in One-Way Sell deposit-placement fees, while liquidity remained substantial at $821.766 million of cash and equivalents. However, the business remains exposed to election-driven deposit volatility, high uninsured and concentrated deposits, falling-rate sensitivity, and rising operating expenses. The filing states that there were no material changes to the risk factors disclosed in the 2025 Form 10-K.

What stood out

The parts that mattered.

Pulled out of the filing itself, with the figures the company reported.

EPS and net income accelerated
Diluted EPS increased to $1.45 in Q2 2026 from $1.08 in Q1 2026 and $0.70 in Q2 2025. Net income was $9.512 million, up from $7.072 million in Q1 2026 and $4.584 million in Q2 2025.
Net interest income expanded
Net interest income rose 44.6% year over year to $17.052 million from $11.794 million. Net interest margin improved to 3.45% from 3.39%, driven by higher average balances in interest-bearing deposits and taxable securities.
Deposit-related fees surged
Noninterest income increased 255.7% year over year to $2.945 million from $828 thousand, led by deposit-placement-services income of $2.055 million versus $159 thousand. One-Way Sell deposits reached $668.0 million at June 30, 2026, compared with $121.2 million a year earlier.
Low-cost deposits drove growth
Total deposits increased 27.2% to $2.001 billion from $1.573 billion at December 31, 2025. Noninterest-bearing deposits rose 33.7% to $1.677 billion and represented 83.8% of total deposits at quarter-end.
Liquidity and cash generation strengthened
Operating cash flow for the six months ended June 30, 2026 was $12.614 million, compared with $6.459 million in the prior-year period. The company invested $3.462 million in premises and equipment, while cash and equivalents increased to $821.766 million from $586.630 million at December 31, 2025.
Asset quality remained solid
Credit performance remained strong: there were no nonaccrual loans, no loans 90 days past due and accruing, and no loan charge-offs at June 30, 2026. The loan ACL declined to $3.714 million from $4.096 million at December 31, 2025, while the ACL-to-loans ratio declined to 1.35% from 1.49%.
What to watch

And the other side of it.

The offsets in the same document — the things a summary that only listed the good news would have left out.

Deposit concentration increased
Deposit concentration increased materially: three clients had individual balances exceeding 5.0% of total deposits, with combined balances of $401.2 million, or 20.0% of deposits, at June 30, 2026; no client exceeded 5% at December 31, 2025.
High uninsured deposit exposure
Approximately 80.8% of total deposits, or $1.6 billion, were uninsured at June 30, 2026, up from 75.0% at December 31, 2025. Political-organization deposits are seasonal and may experience significant outflows around election-related spending.
Greater downside from falling rates
The company is asset-sensitive to interest rates: the immediate -100 basis-point scenario indicated a 15.53% decline in projected 12-month net interest income as of June 30, 2026, compared with 12.41% at December 31, 2025. Management states that falling rates would reduce net interest income.
AFS securities created capital pressure
Accumulated other comprehensive loss increased to $5.666 million at June 30, 2026 from $3.509 million at December 31, 2025, primarily reflecting a $3.143 million year-to-date unrealized loss on available-for-sale securities.
CRE and regional concentration
Commercial real estate loans declined 4.1% to $46.321 million, but the portfolio remains concentrated in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area and includes $10.4 million of office loans. Management identified elevated rates, remote-work trends, vacancies and tenant defaults as potential sources of risk.
Operating costs are rising
Noninterest expenses increased 12.4% year over year to $8.048 million, including a 19.5% increase in salaries and employee benefits to $4.937 million and a 15.6% increase in data-processing and communications costs to $847 thousand.
