BILL earnings analysis

What we found in BILL's 10-K: the parts that mattered, the offsets in the same document, and what the company said about what comes next.

Our reading of the filing · Free to read, no account needed

BILL delivered strong scale and volume growth, with fiscal 2026 revenue up 13% to $1.653 billion, TPV up 13% to $371.3 billion and free cash flow up to $354.7 million. The company is repositioning around an integrated AI-enabled finance platform and expanded embedded distribution, but customer count declined 3% to 479,300 and interest revenue fell 8% as rates declined. Margin progress and buybacks are constructive, yet a 30% workforce reduction, persistent GAAP losses, increased debt obligations and rising card charge-offs make the outlook balanced rather than decisively bullish.

What stood out

The parts that mattered.

Pulled out of the filing itself, with the figures the company reported.

Scaled Finance Platform With Network Reach
BILL describes itself as an integrated intelligent finance platform spanning accounts payable, accounts receivable, expenses, forecasting and procurement. As of June 30, 2026, it served approximately 479,300 businesses, had more than 9 million network members and processed $371.3 billion of TPV, which management said represented over 1% of U.S. GDP.
Expanded AI and Embedded Product Roadmap
The company’s positioning is reinforced by integrations with major accounting, banking and payment platforms, partnerships with more than 85 of the top 100 accounting firms, and indirect distribution through financial institutions and software providers. In fiscal 2026, BILL launched BILL AI agents, Embed 2.0 partnerships with Paychex, Oracle NetSuite and Acumatica, and BILL Travel.
Double-Digit Revenue and TPV Growth
Fiscal 2026 revenue increased 13% to $1.653 billion from $1.463 billion in fiscal 2025 and $1.290 billion in fiscal 2024. Subscription and transaction fees grew 16% to $1.505 billion, led by 22% growth in BILL Spend and Expense and 31% growth in Embedded Solutions and Other transaction fees.
Operating Leverage Offset by Restructuring
Profitability improved operationally despite a GAAP loss: operating margin improved to negative 4.4% in fiscal 2026 from negative 5.5% in fiscal 2025 and negative 13.5% in fiscal 2024, while R&D expense declined 12% to $300.6 million. However, restructuring charges of $90.9 million contributed to a fiscal 2026 net loss of $11.2 million versus net income of $23.8 million in fiscal 2025.
Cash Generation Continued to Improve
Free cash flow increased to $354.7 million in fiscal 2026 from $312.5 million in fiscal 2025 and $257.9 million in fiscal 2024. Operating cash flow reached $415.8 million, while capitalization of internal-use software increased to $57.8 million from $33.8 million in the prior year, reflecting continued platform investment.
Aggressive Buybacks, No Dividend
Capital allocation was shareholder-oriented: BILL repurchased 13.688 million shares for $567.3 million in fiscal 2026 and authorized up to $1.0 billion of additional repurchases in May 2026, with $702.2 million remaining under the authorization at June 30. The company paid no dividends and stated it does not expect to pay dividends in the foreseeable future.
What to watch

And the other side of it.

The offsets in the same document — the things a summary that only listed the good news would have left out.

Large Workforce Reduction Risks Execution
The company announced a reduction in force affecting approximately 30% of its workforce in May 2026, following an approximately 6% reduction in October 2025 and a smaller March 2026 reduction. BILL recorded $90.9 million of fiscal 2026 restructuring charges, including $15.5 million of accelerated stock compensation, and warned of attrition, lost expertise and execution delays.
Debt Maturities and Funding Dependence
Balance-sheet and refinancing exposure increased materially: as of June 30, 2026, BILL had $1.4 billion of 0% convertible notes due in 2030, $123.5 million of 2027 Notes due April 1, 2027, and $330.0 million drawn on revolving facilities. The company also had only $270.0 million of undrawn revolver capacity against total facility capacity of $600.0 million, creating liquidity and cash-settlement risk if notes convert or require repurchase.
Growing Card Credit and Loss Exposure
Card and lending exposure expanded with acquired card receivables of $825.5 million and $26.6 billion of card receivables acquired during fiscal 2026. Card charge-offs rose to $68.4 million from $59.3 million, while BILL bears the entire credit risk for a substantial majority of card receivable participation interests and had an additional $78.6 million of authorized but uncleared transactions off balance sheet.
