Trade Journal
The Trade Journal is a personal log of every trade you take — entries, exits, P&L, and an optional link back to the alert or trade idea that sparked it.
Why use it
- Honest scorekeeping. It's the only page that shows your actual results, not what the platform's signals would have done.
- Outcome attribution. Tag a journal entry with the alert or trade idea you took it from and Optionomics will show aggregate outcomes for that source — e.g. "alerts of this kind average +12%".
- Faster reviews. Filters and a CSV export turn the journal into a spreadsheet whenever you need one.
What you can record
- Symbol, side (long/short), instrument (stock or option), quantity.
- Entry and exit prices, opened and closed timestamps.
- Realized P&L (auto-computed when both prices and quantity are filled in).
- Free-form notes for your thesis and post-trade review.
- A source link to the alert or trade idea that triggered the trade.
Filters and stats
- Status — open, closed, or all.
- Symbol prefix — type "AA" to find every AAPL or AA entry.
- Source — manual, alert-driven, or idea-driven.
- Date range — by `opened_at`.
The header tiles update with every filter change so the Realized P&L, Win rate, Avg P&L, and Open / Total numbers always reflect the slice you're looking at.
Exports
Click Export CSV in the toolbar. The download includes every column with stable headers — safe to point your spreadsheet formulas at.
Tips
- Journal trades the day they happen. Memory is the worst data source.
- Use the Trade Ideas and Alerts pages with the journal open in another tab — `Track this` lifts an entry into the journal pre-filled.
